yrockonxpn.org -As of February 24, 2005 there has been a change in the Philadelphia radio landscape. Radio One, the parent company of Y100FM decided to change the format from Alternative/Modern Rock to Hip-Hop and Rap. I and many people in the Philadelphia area disagree with Radio One's decision, especially since Radio One has a radio station in Philadelphia that plays Hip-Hop and Rap.
Y100 had a very loyal following in Philadelphia. They were a rarity in radio since they were a corporate radio station that didn't sound corporate. The station actually let bands like Incubus be the DJ for a few hours. They had a "Sonic Session" where bands play acoustic versions of their songs in a recording studio for a small group of listeners. They also had a morning show with DJ's that didn't do skits or scam phone calls. Their names are Preston and Steve and their show was voted the best morning radio show in America for 2004 by radio industry bigwigs. Preston and Steve weren't annoying. They talked about everything and anything and were funny, funny, funny. (They have since made the decision to go to another radio station in Philadelphia and I wish them well.)
In August 2006, people at the University of Pennsylvania's radio station, WXPN and the people at Y-100 Rocks entered into a partnership. Y-100 moved its operations to WXPN's studios and now Y-100 is both on the FM dial at 88.5 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights in the Philadelphia area and is online at a computer near you. Rock on!
Please Note: Noboby is paying me to say this. I just want to spread a little love. If you're a fan of Alternative/Modern Rock, then you'll love it, just as many people in Philly do.
By the way, if none of the links are appealing, you can always go back to looking for posters at Just Movie Posters.Com. I even made it easy for you and put the page links below.
